Are you suffering from any kind of affliction? Maybe you have suffered through an affliction and are now recovered? Maybe you are suffering in a mental way? Perhaps you are suffering through spiritual matters. Throughout your suffering did/are you moaning, complaining, asking why?
We all will have to “carry a cross”, sooner or later in life. There may be a point at which we carry it for the remainder of this life.
Christians should consider life trials as a gift from heaven. Our sufferings give the perfect opportunity to live a part of our lives as Jesus did – in suffering. Consider your suffering as a part of Christ in you and make every attempt to glorify your heavenly Father in your suffering.(Psalm 118:7) Accept your cross and carry it with the Grace that God gives you.(Matt 6:16-18) Let your Christ-like attitude shine out so it may be seen by others as an example of how we should live the good and the bad times with joy in our hearts.(Matt 5:16) Christ brought the Helper to shine the light in all of us and to remove all darkness.
Suffering also brings us closer to God.(see Life’s Uncertainties) We can consider ourselves blessed that we encounter trials in our lives as this is the gift God gives us so that we can remember Him as sovereign. If you are going through a painful surgical recovery, cancer treatments, diabetes, arthritis or any other discomforting affliction, don’t gripe, moan and ask “why me”? Remember what Christ went through for you generations before you were brought in to this world. If we are to TRUELY be Christ-like in our lives, we MUST face the suffering as well as the good times, just as Christ suffered for us.(2Cor:1-5)
